It's about time I introduced myself on this things then. I'm Jono Starsmore and I just transfered her from Gallaudet University. For those of you not familiar with it, that would be the university for the Deaf. I'm rooming in Dillon with Veronica, Ron & Mikaela.
However, I am not deaf. I am actually, a music major focusing on cello performance. I also play the violin, piano, guitar and bass guitar. If you ask really nicely, I might even play the spoons. I am mute though. Due to a lovely twist of Fate, Puck, Loki or whatever you want to call it, I can no longer speak. Hence, the talking with my hands bit. I promise, I'm not at all Italian.
Originally I'm from Wales which means little to you Yanks, so just go with 'London, England' instead. I've been living in the states on and off since I was 16 though so I know which side of the pavement to drive a
lorry truck on. America and Britain, two countries separated by a common language.
In addition to being a music major, I also tutor music if anyone wants lessons for any reason and I am a TA for some ASL classes this summer if anyone wants to learn. That's American Sign Language (not to be confused with BSL, British Signing Language). Every Monday night there is a get together at the local coffee shop off campus for the Deaf community as well, which is a great place to meet people, learn or practice your sign or just hang out. You don't need to know any sign language to come, I promise. I'm there every week.
This has gone longer than I anticipated so I think I'm going to log off now! *waves*
